What to Expect?
Run by established sign painter of over 30 years, Mike Meyer, this four-day workshop is a crash course in the essentials of sign painting. You can expect fun, lettering and a lot of laughter with like-minded creatives from various backgrounds.
What is the Workshop’s Structure?
The first part of the workshop is focused on setting out and painting Gothic (Block), Casual and Script letterforms through a hands-on process of practice, personal critique and expert guidance. Starting with a pencil, you learn to draw and develop an understanding of the basic letterforms. This then forms the basis for building your brush skills, with emphasis on paint, brushes and other specialist equipment used to paint letters.
With the basics under control, the final two days allow you to develop a range of techniques to add a little something extra to your painted letters. Mike will guide you through a variety of lettering effects, including basic shadows, outlines, bevels, convex and concave lettering.
