The Art Workers’ Guild
Having studied philosophy and then trained as an architectural sculptor, one aspect of my creative work – especially in the area of public art work – has been working with lettering in various ways, and using a variety of media. Taking stock of what I have done so far, perhaps I can see a common thread or purpose in my approach, not unrelated perhaps to my other areas of work with figuration and abstract work. The questions of the scale; material; form; and layout of lettering, all all completely integral for me; as are those of the purpose, context and siting of the commission. Also, I don’t like to repeat myself!
